Cheap Holidays Abroad to Antalya

Anyone travelling to Antalya in Turkey and expecting to find the typical tourist resort will not be disappointed but they will be surprised to find there's much more to this city that meeting the needs of holidaymakers.

Antalya is an important hub of Turkey's agricultural industry and the wholesale market in the city provides more half of all the fruit and vegetable requirements of the country.

The older part of Antalya, known as Kalecei, is a warren of narrow cobbled streets flanked by a mix of architecture dating back to various historical periods including the Roman and Byzantine periods.

Like most coastal towns along this Turkish coast, Antalya has a marina, but the one here is not a modern construction rather an older, more charming, harbour dating back to Roman times. It is quite small and seems more integrated into the town itself. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants around the marina where one can relax and watch the world go by.

There are very few beaches to be found near the main town, with some having only private access, so holidaymakers looking for more beach time may want to select a hotel located on either of the Konyaalti or Lara beaches to the west of the town. It is in this area where you will find the larger hotels that cater for many of the tourists visiting the town.

The beach along the coast here stretches for almost 5 kilometers with views of mountains dominating the skyline in the south. The beach is a mix of pebbles and different colored sands, with a huge choice of serviced beach areas, so there is plenty of room for everyone.

There are various interesting locations that can quickly be reached by cheap flight options from either Antalya or Dalaman airports. One favourite would be Patara with its ancient Lycian ruins. There are also ruins of an amphitheater here and a holiday here can be made complete with lazy days on the lovely beaches in the area.

The Patara beach has been voted by some as the best beach in the world, with 17 kilometers of white sand to enjoy. Strict conservation laws are in place here and there are no buildings along the coast to spoil this very special beach.

If you are lucky enough to be here at the right time of year you may see the amazing sight of Loggerhead turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs on the beach, although the beaches are protected and are sometimes closed to the public during the hours of darkness as this is when the turtles normally come ashore.

Other resorts within reach of Antalya along the Lycian coast include Kemer, Finike and Kas. These towns all lie on the Lycian Way, an ancient footpath that meanders through forests, gorges, mountainside tracks and summer pasture land. Kas is a small coastal town with a picturesque marina. It is located approximately 100 miles west of Antalya and has only a few small Hotels

, making it a perfect location for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Visitors to Kas normally choose the location for the wealth of ancient monuments in the surrounding area or for its fantastic location as a base for scuba diving.

The attractive Kaputas beach sits between Kas and the nearby town of Kalkan. Mass tourism has yet to reach Kalkan although there are quite a few private villa developments around the town that are attracting those seeking a second or holiday home in the area.

Further towards Antalya, the town of Finike owes its history to its past as a trading port and still supplements its economy with its busy yacht marina. Another part of the areas commercial interest is citrus fruit agriculture and oranges and other fruits are exported from the area to all over the world.

There are many small beaches and coves along the coast around Finike and several are stopping points of the Blue Cruises that sail along the coast. Like Patana, however there are concerns about protecting the natural habitats of sea turtles which use the beaches to come ashore and lay their eggs.

In the hills behind Finike there are ancient ruins and monuments to explore and the town itself also has city walls and ruins of a Roman theatre explore.

So you can see that Antalya is a gateway to sun and sunshine as well as an abundance of history and ancient architecture. A great mix for a fantastic Holiday

In addition to all these cheap travel options, Turkey and its many different resorts have proved themselves as one of the popular cheap holidays abroad from Last Minute Holidays to all inclusive holidays their will always be a resort that meets your budget

Holiday in turkey - Altinkum what a good idea

With every passing year there is nothing more exacerbating than what everybody who populates this planet we call earth dreams of, It is the 2 weeks we slog our guts out for in the daily to and fro from our beloved place of work, I am of course referring to the summer Holiday.

We pin our hopes upon this, what some people would call a frugal pursuit of the sun worshiper’s guide to fulfilment, grasping there factor 3 oil in one hand and a pint of lager in the other this make for a somewhat egregious site to say the least, but having visited turkey on several occasions I came across a jewel in the Turkish crown, Altinkum a small resort not too busy in comparison to some of the others I have stayed in.

Upon disembarking from our coach from the airport, I took it upon myself to explore my surroundings and to acquaint myself with the local area, there were a variety of Hotels available to book whilst you were staying in the resort or before you left home, there were many sights upon entering the square as you make your way down to the beach. Lots of nice restaurants serving all kinds of exotic dishes, the smells and aromas were of nothing that I had ever smelt before. Tanterlising your taste buds.

A word to the wise in regard to the kids running around with their shoe shine kits, Be aware they will given the opportunity relieve you of a considerable amount of money for a shoe shine, where it would be cheaper to buy a new pair of shoes, with regard to the beach beautiful golden sand and a slowly shelving beach, ideal for kids. This was an inexpensive Holiday and would recommend it as one of my best cheap Holidays abroad that I have ever had the pleasure to partake in. I would highly recommend the resort of Altinkum.

Gran Canaria A Great Holiday Destination

Last year after wading through what seemed to be a paper mill of Holiday brochures looking for the perfect location for our summer Holiday, we decided as it was quite late in the year that the Canary Islands would me most suited for our family’s needs, as I had read that the Canary Islands had a very good climate, on average the temperature during the damp and cold months of the United Kingdom’s winter was a very nice and warm minimum 23 degrees.

Bearing this is mind we set out to decide on the best resort that would suit our needs, after weighing up all of the different cheap Holiday Options that were offered by all the different resorts and hotels, we decided on the resort of Puerto rico, now the thing about Puerto rico is that the resort is in the shape of a horse shoe.

When booking a hotel in the resort of Puerto rico you need to check out how high up the side of the resort you are as you could end up with over 1000 steps to navigate, and a long walk to the beach. We opted for a hotel called the Omar, this was a 2 star hotel but suited our needs down to the ground, we had seen many nice looking cheap Holidays abroad but as some were quite a way from the beach the Omar was perfect as this was just a 5 minute stroll.

There were plenty of bars and restaurants to keep all ages amused, but unfortunately with pubs and clubs, also comes ticket touts. Although not as many as in other Canary Island Resorts, there were quite a few, offering various items for ‘free’, Including BOGOF on drinks and cocktail vouchers. Most of them are legit ways of them getting you to drink in their bars however, be aware for those that seem too good to be true-they usually aren’t.

The Main Beach in Puerto Rico is pleasant enough, but if it’s a real white sandy beach you are after, then just a 5 minute taxi ride away is the beach of Amadores. An up and coming area, it’s becoming more and more popular as more holiday makers discover it.

Crete – Where To Go And What To Do

Once you have decided on your Holiday destination, I think it pays to do a little research on the place that you shall be visiting the Island of Crete has a long history that goes back to the Neolithic times. It is however known for the Minoan civilization that originated from 2600 to 1100 B.C. The island is full of relics of the Minoan ages the most famous being the palaces at Knossos and Festos.

This is your chance to go and visit this location as it holds some wondrous artefacts and makes for a great day out having visited this place myself; The Palace of Knossos. It is the largest of the preserved Minoan palatial centres. Four wings are arranged around a central courtyard, containing the royal quarters, workshops, shrines, storerooms, repositories, and the throne room and banquet halls. Dated to 2000-1350 B.C.

The Little Palace. It lies to the west of the main palace and has all the features of palatial architecture: scraped wall masonry, reception rooms, a pristyle hall, a double megaron with polythyra (pi er-and-door partitions) and a lustral basin-shrine. Dated to the 17th-15th centuries B.C.

One of my favourites was the House of the Frescoes. It is located to the NW of the palace and is a small urban mansion with rich decoration on the walls. Dated to the 15th, 14th-12th centuries B.C. if you do get a chance take the time to visit this site as I found it fascinating, another thing to look for when trying to find cheap Holidays abroad are the popular resorts one of which I have stayed in and spent a lovely 2 weeks this was the resort of Rethymnon.

The resort of Rethymnon lies on the north coast of Crete and has a transfer time by coach of approximately ninety minutes. The old town is a labyrinth of narrow streets lined with white washed houses as seen on all of the adverts and postcards, old churches and fine Venetian buildings.

A large fortress stands above the harbour, built to protect the town from pirates. Now though the only invaders are tourists looking to soak up the sun and to have fun. The beach is sand and shingle and offers a variety of water sports including jet skiing and surfing these are just one of the many cheap Holiday Options available. There are many shops and restaurants providing for all your needs on the island so all there is to say about Crete is to have a wonderful time.

Cheap Holidays Abroad can be found

Finding a cheap getaway shouldn’t be a problem anymore, with so many travel agents offering great offers and last minute deals. However, in the winter months cheap sunshine bargains can still be rather tricky to find.

For those of you who wish to venture out of Europe, the Dominican Republic is probably the cheapest Caribbean destination. However we prefer to stick to somewhere a bit closer to home.

Namely, the Canary Islands. Consisting of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Gomera, these Islands, in my opinion, are a great cheap holiday destination for the winter months.
As the only `sunshine all year round´ destinations in Europe, it is very unlikely that you will come across any bad weather at all when on holiday there. To know this is a great comfort, as no one would enjoy the prospect of a rainy holiday.

How much you pay, as always, comes down to how picky you are… whether or not you want self catering, half board or all inclusive. Staying away from the school holiday periods would also be a suggestion, as you will notice an extreme increase in prices over the Christmas holidays, half term or Easter weeks. To go outside of these dates would be financially beneficial if possible.

When trying to find cheap Holidays abroad over winter, last minute deals really pay off. If you can get a taxi to the airport with your luggage ready and passport in hand, you’re likely to get the best offer possible.

We did this last year and ended up going to Gran Canaria, allocated on arrival (which basically means they will put you in hotel that isn’t booked up). This doesn’t mean, however that you will end up in a cockroach infested hut. We ended up in a 3 star Self catering hotel for 2 weeks in Puerto Rico resort and only paid a quarter of the brochure price and ended up having a great holiday.

I recommend The Canary Islands if you are looking for cheap Holidays abroad you wont be disapointed with your choice.

Maldives Holidays 2010

Maldives is a country known for its water-based activity options. Most of the Holiday Makers come over here to take part in these water sports; these are extremely popular with couples and families alike.

People visit the Maldives to take part in some of the best water sports available for holiday makers. Scuba Diving is a very popular activity in Maldives and should be tried by anyone going to this beautiful destination. There are a large number of resorts to be found in this exotic country.

The Maldivian people will give you a warm welcome on your honeymoon ensuring the best Maldives holiday. Colourful and lively, the Maldives is more than just an idyllic beach location. From fish and crafts markets to regular displays of traditional dance and music, you will never forget your trip in the Maldives. Over the last couple of years the Maldives has had more cheap Holiday Options available for all of us to go and enjoy this splendid holiday location.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in the sun island resort. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were amazing, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

we had a beach front villa. The beach villas have a private outdoor shower which was great after a dip in the sea. And these were situated right by the sea. The rooms were very well maintained and had a Comfortable bed, great view and separate, indoor and outdoor sitting areas with sun loungers.

The food was good but not amazing. We had all inclusive which was great as the drinks were very expensive, example 1 beer 10 pounds, so if you go make sure you book all inclusive as one of your cheap Travel Options
